New
technology is going to make your life so much simpler. The car electronics company, Harman,
presented a new idea at the Geneva Motor Show, and it is sure to change the way
we think about our phones and our cars.
Using a Dock + Go system, your smartphone will make driving a more
personal experience.
In the
presentation, Harman first demonstrated the capabilities of Dock + Go with
various smartphones’ Near Field Communication.
As each smartphone was placed near the NFC reader in the car, a welcome
message specific to that phone appeared on the car’s display. Information and content ranging from
playlists to social media was pulled from the phone without even plugging it
in. The system then used the Aha radio
application to access internet radio stations, traffic information, restaurant
reviews, and more.
You might
think you can do these things right now with Bluetooth, but have you considered
how much that drains your phones batteries (not to mention digging out the
cable to connect it)? The main benefit
of the system is its Near Field Communication reader, which quickly and
effortlessly pairs your phone in the car without killing your phone’s battery. Smartphone and car integration technology is
the way of the future, and at Route 23 Honda, we can't wait!
