Pilots Take Flight

Have you ever really taken a moment to sit down and think about the Honda Pilot?  Impressive doesn’t even begin to describe this clever SUV.  With renowned safety, versatility, and efficiency, the Pilot is just short of actually flying.  This SUV is just one of many vehicles that we are proud to carry at Route 23 Honda.

Recently, the Honda Pilot has received numerous accolades, ratings, and awards, which further affirm its value in the automotive industry.  Cars.com named the SUV “Family Car of the Year,” due to its roominess and fuel efficiency.  In addition, it took the top spot in "USA Today, MotorWeek and Cars.com $37k and Under SUV Shootout.”  “What else,” you may ask.  Well, it’s also a Top Safety Pick from The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and "2011 Lowest Annual True Cost to Own SUV $35K-$45K" from Edmunds.com.

So, if you are looking to make a good decision for your family and leave buyer’s remorse behind, come to Route 23 Honda to snag your new Honda Pilot today.  “Drive” doesn’t really seem to cut it with this one, so we’ll say, “Become a part of the Route 23 Honda Family today, and get ready for take off.”

Your Car And Your Phone Will Be Best Friends

New technology is going to make your life so much simpler.  The car electronics company, Harman, presented a new idea at the Geneva Motor Show, and it is sure to change the way we think about our phones and our cars.  Using a Dock + Go system, your smartphone will make driving a more personal experience.

In the presentation, Harman first demonstrated the capabilities of Dock + Go with various smartphones’ Near Field Communication.  As each smartphone was placed near the NFC reader in the car, a welcome message specific to that phone appeared on the car’s display.  Information and content ranging from playlists to social media was pulled from the phone without even plugging it in.  The system then used the Aha radio application to access internet radio stations, traffic information, restaurant reviews, and more.

You might think you can do these things right now with Bluetooth, but have you considered how much that drains your phones batteries (not to mention digging out the cable to connect it)?  The main benefit of the system is its Near Field Communication reader, which quickly and effortlessly pairs your phone in the car without killing your phone’s battery.  Smartphone and car integration technology is the way of the future, and at Route 23 Honda, we can't wait!

Tips to Keep You Moving This Spring!

Luckily for us, we have had a pretty mild winter in our area with warmer than usual weather and very little snow. Although this has been nice, you should still be aware of how your car is running to be prepared for the spring. Follow some of these suggestions and get your car checked out at our service center to make sure your car is in tip top shape for those spring and summer road trips!

First and foremost, you should make sure your battery is working. Winter can be tough on your car, causing your battery to work harder and drain more. Make sure you take note of signs such as slower power windows, dimmer lights, etc.

If your breaks are squeaking, you need to do something about it. Winter weather and salts on the road could potentially deteriorate brake parts. Make sure your breaks are in good shape to optimize your safety.

To even further elaborate on the damage road salts can do, you must also make sure to clean the undercarriage of your car. All the winter debris of the road will get picked up and can corrode the metal parts.

Another part of your car that gets beat by winter conditions are your windshield wipers. The conditions can dry them out, making them ineffective against the higher percentage of rainfall we get during the warmer months. Make sure to replace them if needed!

Last but not least is tire care. Changes in temperature can affect the pressure in your tires. Make sure to keep them inflated to the proper level that is stated in your owner's manual or on the inside of your driver's door. You should also be aware of your tire treads to know if you have a safe amount of grip on the road. You can test this by placing a quarter in one of the grooves. If the head of Washington is covered by the tread, your tires should be at an appropriate level. If you use a penny and Lincoln's head is visible, it's time to think about replacing your tires.

2012 Honda Civic: 10 of Many Things To Know

With the release of the 2012 Civic, Honda kept it conservative, which is not a bad thing when it comes to one of the best selling cars, ever. Though similar to last year's predecessor, there all still some big changes, along with some small ones that you may not have known about, until now.

2012 Civic LX Sedan - $149/month!
1) The Civic has 5 different models to choose from, giving a little something for every demographic. Choose from the Civic Sedan, Civic Coupe, the sporty Civic Si (Sedan or Coupe), most fuel efficient Civic HF, and Civic Hybrid.

2) Also available, in some markets, is the Green Car of the Year: 2012, the Honda Civic Natural Gas. This car provides a cheaper fuel alternative that gives off less green house gases.

3) Honda has improved the aerodynamics of the 2012 Civic, adding to fuel efficiency. A new wheel design, smaller grill opening, flat under body, longer hood, and sculpted bumpers all lower the drag coefficient.

4) Each model has shed the pounds as well, ranging from 20-55 less, varying on the model, with the greatest drop in the EX-L (58 pounds less).

5) The new Civic has four more cubic feet of room with 1.6 more inches of back seat leg room. Altogether, the interior feels and looks much more roomier than before.

6) Thinner A Pillars on the windshield increase forward visibility, minimizing those pesky blind spots around curves.

7) Less noise enters the cabin, which may seem like the engine is not working as hard, but trust us, it definitely is. Enjoy a more enjoyable ride and save your ears by being able to lower the tunes, if you want.

8) Upgraded from last year is the plastic interior, adding to the all around aesthetic quality of the car.

9) Comfort should be a top priority in a car, and Honda made sure that this happened in the new Civic. Seats are now more supportive, and the lumbar support is less intrusive. Don't fall asleep at the wheel!

10) Last, but not least, is the addition of a 5-inch screen, called intelligent Multi-Information Display, which displays info such as blue tooth, the trip computer, a clock, and audio functions.

Now that you know what has been upgraded, all you have to decide is what model is right for you. Learn all the other great qualities of each 2012 Civic directly from Honda with this 2012 Honda Civic Brochure

Route 23 Honda has the knowledge and expertise to guide you to the perfect choice. Come down to Route 23 Honda today or visit www.route23hondaoffers.com to check out the $149/month deal on the Civic Sedan!

Proud of Our Own: Honda Accord and Honda Fit Make Car and Driver's "10 Best" List

Since 1983, coincidentally the same year we moved into our newer, larger location, Car and Driver magazine has annually nominated a list of what they consider the top 10 best cars of the year. Over the past quarter century, Honda has blown the competition out of the water, doubling second place holder, Toyota, in the wins column. To add to Honda's consistent dominance, the Honda Accord has claimed 26 of these "Best 10" spots, the most for any car model.  For many years, it seemed as if the Car and Driver articles were written by Honda! Not to be outdone, the Honda Fit has been on the list every year since 2007, and 2012 proves to be no different.

What exactly does Car and Driver like so much about the Honda Accord? For starters, the continued overall excellence in a vehicle. They highlight how this large sedan is "lighter on its feet than many sport coupes," and "when Honda plays to its strengths, it is better than anyone at producing vehicles with a supernaturally fine balance of attributes." The 2012 Accord will get you 33 mpg, so you can have fun driving a car without breaking the bank at the gas pump. The stylish body, entering its 5th model year, still keeps up with its more recently updated competition. Available in both 4 door and coupe options, four cylinder and six, the 2012 Honda Accord satisfies the conservative family type or the car owner looking for a double take as they cruise down the highway.

Now in its 6th year on the list, the Honda Fit is still the favorite in its subcompact class. With more competition in this category than ever, this type of consistency shows Honda's commitment to making every vehicle the best it can be.  "Overall, the Fit is not just a triumph over other small cars, it's a triumph of engineering," says Car and Driver. They love the spacious interior of such a small car, and go on to mention how much cargo space you can achieve thanks to the lay-flat rear seating, "57 cubic feet of cargo volume - 13 more than you'll get if you flop the back row in a Ford Explorer." The Fit is a fuel efficient, price efficient, little ball of fire that you can whip around the streets with confidence.  It's huge considering it's so small.

Route 23 Honda continues to see the quality and value Honda has always been know for, and want you to make your own personal assessment . Schedule a test drive with us and see for yourself why the 2012 Honda Accord and Honda Fit belong among the car industry's best.  Inventory has returned to pre-Tsunamai levels and good availablity exists on both models.
